All players will find their place in this program
In 2017, UTS Sport and Gordon Rugby extended their partnership to form the inaugural women’s rugby sevens Academy. The Academy expanded from the humble beginnings of a dozen athletes to currently around 50 squad members who participate in the free training program ahead of the proposed women’s sevens Shute Shield Competition in 2018, we are pleased to continue this program due to its huge success in 2018 to entering a 15s women’s side in the Jack Scott Cup competition in 2019.
In 2021 our Women’s XV program arrived officially on the scene. Once considered Easybeats, the XV’s under the guidance of Wallaroos Captain Ash Hewson and forwards powerhouse Evelyn Horomia the women were five wins from 9 games and in the third position.
In 2022 the Women’s XVs program realized their dream as they achieved their first Jack Scott Cup Premiership, defeating Sydney University in the Grand final!
Now with Evie Horomia as Head Coach in 2023 and returning in 2024 the side will be looking to continue its growth into becoming a powerhouse for women’s rugby in Sydney’s North.
In 2023 our XV's were in both Div 1 and Div 2 of the Jack Scott Cup, finishing the regular season in 2nd and 4th place respectively.
Our Sevens program continues to grow, with Gordon having 3 sides in 2023 including a side in the Division 1 competition.
Women’s rugby and in particular Gordon’s Women Program will continue to gain the momentum and exposure it deserves.
