VALE PHILIP DUNCAN McLENNAN

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Philip Duncan McLennan on Jan 16th 2017 at age 46. He is survived by his beautiful wife Sally and his gorgeous daughter Juliette.

Phil was an enormously proud and talented Gordon boy who played 1st grade colts in 1990 and was part of the Grand Final winning 4th Grade (Henderson Cup) squad in 1992. Coached by Jim McManus and captained by Richard Grant, Phil was invaluable in securing line-out ball that laid the platform from which James Fairbank scored the only try in the 20-15 win over Randwick.

His team mate and friend David Phelan, on behalf of Gordon players James Fairbank, Brad Roberts, Matt Spicer and Michael Griffin, shared this reflection about Phil:-

“Personally I met Phil through playing at Gordon and the memories we both have of the days on the field and off the field at the original club house seem so fresh. They were great days of playing good hard rugby, having a lot of fun and developing lifelong friendships.

I have no doubt that Phil is in heaven at the bar regaling people with the legend that is the tartan of the Gordon RU and that 4th grade win. A GORDON FOR ME will ring out!”

Phil will be farewelled on the 25th January 2017 in Dandenong, Victoria
