Gordon look set to possibly reach the semi finals with 3 teams. If the stars align and the mathematics fall into place we could see 3 Gordon teams in the semi finals this year.
Sitting in 3rd place is our mighty 4th grade team who have only lost 3 games this season and were unlucky in all cases. The “Grey Beards” as they like to call themselves have shown great form all year destroying most of the competition in front of them. At this stage they are only 4 points behind Norths who are in 2nd place on the ladder and have to play both the bottom of the table teams (Penrith and Parramatta). Norths on the other hand have to play Manly and Eastwood who are sitting with in the top 8, therefore the Grey Beards could finish their season in 2nd place.
1st Grade Colts look set to feature in the semi finals, sitting in 8th position with a comfortable gap between them and 9th (Eastern Suburbs). Colts have played consistently well this year with only a few hick ups along the road. They sit only 4 points behind Warringah, however both teams will be playing the bottom of the table teams. If Gordon win with a bonus point and Warringah score only a 4 point win they will move into 7th.
Finally 2nd Grade stand an outside chance of sneaking into the semi finals. Here is where the maths stands. If Gordon beat both Penrith and Parramatta (both bottom of the table) with a bonus point they will finish with 37 points. However, they need Warringah and West Harbour to loose one of their remaining matches and Southern Districts to loose their last match. West Harbour play 2 away games against reasonable strength teams and Warringah play Randwick away and Penrith home, the possibility of loosing one is there. Southern Districts lost to Easts and have to play Uni away. The ball is firmly in the hands of Gordon 2nd Grade.
