Willoughby Craft Beer Fair

Posted by Jason on July 26th, 2012 in Events, Tartan Talk | No Comments

The inaugural Willoughby Craft Beer Fair is being held Sunday the 9th of September 2012. Born from a shared passion for beer in all its forms, the day aims to celebrate the best and brightest of the Australian Craft Beer scene, because frankly, life is too short for bad beer. Apparently this sentiment is common; within a week we were able to boast a full compliment of eager brewers ready to share their expertise and enthusiasm with you. Presenters include,  major craft players Matilda Bay, Malt Shovel and Little Creatures, as well as fast emerging favourites  McLaren Vale, 4 Pines  and Stone & Wood. Says Venue Manager John McGurk: “This is an exciting opportunity for our local community to discover some truly unique craft beers and see just what creations are possible.”  To ensure there is something for everyone, there will also be focus given to Wine and Ciders in designated areas.

The fair will be hosted from 12-5pm along MacMahon St, Willoughby North in front of The Willoughby Hotel. John continues: “This is by no means your run-of-the-mill beer and wine tasting event. This will be an entertaining day for every member of the family, with jumping castles for the kids, a band playing and even a garden expo that should not be missed by any of our local green thumbs!”

The street will be closed for the day to provide pedestrian access throughout the fairground, with stalls forming a boundary around the stage upon which free entertainment will be running throughout the day. From guided tasting sessions, cooking lessons, live music and cultural presentations, all presentations will ensure not only an increase to your working knowledge of beers, but also provide informative and entertaining diversion to pass the lovely Spring afternoon. Save the date, this is truly building to be a day not to be missed!

Entry is free and tasting booklets will be made available for presale as well as at the fair. Details regarding sales will be released closer to the date.
